About Us
YORUG's story begins with the meeting of a designer and two close friends whose childhoods have been lost in the dusty pages of history.
"We've drifted so far from our culture, do you realize that?"
We are being silently assimilated.
A deep silence falls over the room after these words are spoken.
I want a name that doesn't lose its roots:
"Let's name it YORUG," I say. "To evoke the image of a Yörük (nomadic Turk)."
He, however, wants to bring the work into the present day:
"Let our culture live on in the moment," he says.
Then we'll decide on textiles.
Our aim is not just to produce; it is to revive our culture and to tell the story of Anatolia and Turkish culture to the whole world in a language that speaks to the world today.
What are we doing?
We listen to stories waiting to be told.
Words left on dusty shelves, forgotten motifs, unfinished narratives.
Then we reconstruct them in today's language.
With fabric, with lines, with form.
At YORUG, every design is part of a fairy tale.
A tale whose beginning lies in the roots, and whose path leads through the present.
We carry the silent power of Anatolia without shouting.
Because true stories aren't told aloud.
We don't manufacture products.
We seek a new way to keep culture alive.
And in this fairy tale,
those who read, those who wear, and those who feel
It becomes part of the story.
